dc.description.abstract The project proposes the design and analysis of Papin Dam on Wadala Kas in Chakwal region of Punjab, Pakistan. The area falls in arid to semi-arid region with most rainfall occurring from July to September which is sporadic and unpredictable temporally and spatially. The design features a 105 feet high concrete gravity dam which also includes design of an irrigation channel to provide water to 18000 acres of cultivable land downstream. Given a small hydropower potential at the dam site, a hydropower scheme has also been proposed which is expected to fulfill electricity demand of small villages in the vicinity. The methodology revolves around analysis of field data which includes hydrological and geological data and model analysis for seepage and stability. Several software were used throughout the project work to meet the project objectives. The result of the project work is the proposed 105 feet high Papin Dam with 460kW of power generation capacity and irrigation channel. The proposed section has also been checked against seepage problem. Grout curtains and holes are proposed to prevent seepage. Stability analysis has been done manually and using software. Both the results are compared and they show the dam is safe against all failure modes. en_US
