dc.description.abstract Slope Instability is the main problem faced by most of the construction projects. This problem is mostly faced in mountainous areas and so is the case with new DHA phase 4 Extension because it has sloppy terrain. Scope of slope stability analysis in itself is not very vast. But the auxiliary activities that accompany it impart a wide learning base for many civil engineering practices. These include Soil Testing, Site Surveying and Cost Estimation. To solve this slope stability problem and reclaim the land for construction, we need to perform various tests on the site material to get knowledge about the properties of site material. The main tests include Sieve Analysis, Atterberg limits Test, Hydrometer Analysis, Direct Shear Test, and Resistivity Analysis. After testing, we get important properties of material most importantly cohesion, friction angle, moisture content, ground water table etc. After this, the slope is modeled in slide software. We need to input the properties obtained from tests in this software and we analyze the slope for Factor of Safety. After finalizing a suitable cross section we need to find cut and fill and consequently the cost of project. The slope may also require retaining wall and therefore we may need to design a retaining wall. Various methods can be used to design a retaining wall but best method is to use software GEO 5. en_US
