dc.description.abstract Performance of a network is dependent upon various parameters. Network management people are mainly interested in knowing the performance of the network at particular instance of time. Monitoring information from various points in network is stored. This information is used to see the usage of the network resources, and later used for performance or capacity planning of network. Forecasting involves prediction of the future traffic flows. Network administrators are generally interested in analyzing the different trends in traffic flows within network. The analysis of these traffic flows will determine the possible future flows from the host. Analysis of such flows might be helpful in determining other characteristics like the available bandwidth etc and determining any anomalous event in network. en_US
