Web-oriented Content Development

Abstract

The objective of the overall project was to design and develop a solution to provide distance education in the form of Pakistan Academic Intranet (PAI). It was further sub-divided into several portions. The objective of my project was to design and develop the contents for this Intranet. This solution was aimed at making education easily accessible giving the students the flexibility to study in their own time, and at the same time making the whole system as transparent as possible. Over the years, Internet has evolved as a user-friendly medium capable of high-speed information delivery and therefore, it was the medium of choice. Contents have been developed after studying the Carnegie Melon On-line data model. Guidance of several experts has also been taken. The GUI has also been developed to provide access to these course contents. Several tools have been used including Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, and Microsoft FrontPage as per requirement. SQL database has been used at the backend. Active Server Pages (ASP) technology has been used for database connectivity. Java scripting has also been used where required.
