Abstract:
Flat display screens limit the view-ability of contents being displayed. Remember the trouble of rotating the display monitor when collaborating on a round table. The problem can be catered by cylindrical screen which allows the user to view it from any side. Typical 360 Degree Cylindrical Display technology is based on LCD and LED screen which are expensive technology per unit area. Our solution provides a cost effective and scalable cylindrical display technology. This is done through a conical mirror, a translucent cylindrical screen and a projector. The user can also interact using his hand which will also allow the user to play with the projected image.
Now a day, a lot of work is being done to develop such displays which is as close to reality as possible. This involves different kind of Image wrapping techniques. The aim of this project is the provided user with the opportunity to view things from all directions by rotating the image. The sight angle of viewer remains constant. The viewer can rotate the image with his hand. This makes our project interactive.
The 2D image used is of very high quality so that after image processing the shown image is not of poor quality. Lasers are used to detect the hand movement around the screen. Whenever an opaque object moves closer to the screen it cuts the Line of sight of Laser which are placed directly on top, projecting light downwards, the camera reads the red spot as missing and the image is rotated depending on the direction of movement of the object.
