Abstract:
Vehicle undercarriage inspection is an essential part of security checks carried out at entrances of all the important institutions. Presently, in Pakistan, it is performed by security personnel using a mirror assembly or by viewing images of vehicle undercarriage as it passes over a camera platform. These methods are pretty unreliable as they depend a lot on human cognitive abilities and may also pose a threat to the security personnel themselves.
“Intelligent Under Vehicle Inspection System” provides an assistive solution to the checking of vehicle undercarriages at security checkpoints. The system takes images of vehicle undercarriage as it passes over a platform mounted with cameras and then compares these images with reference images of the same vehicle. It then suggests areas where there is possibility of any changes.
The proposed system reduces chances of misdetection and the resultant loss of human life by improving the process of foreign object detection.
