Abstract:
A centrally controlled multi robot system would be used to transport objects from one place to another in an arena. An overhead camera, connected to a base station, would be used to provide constant surveillance of the arena. The base station would use the information provided by the camera to instruct robots to lift and move objects. At times when a single robot fails to handle an object, multiple robots would work together to maneuver the object. This project is divided between two groups.
This group will focus on processing the images obtained from the overhead camera and utilizing the information to plan the movement of the robots. The base station (central control) will track the robots using information from the camera. The base station will also communicate wirelessly with the robots. This will include path planning, object detection using the camera, guiding the robots to the object and back to the dumping zone, feedback control involving the camera etc., essentially most of the central control’s design, working and programming fall in this category.
