dc.description.abstract The aim of the project is to design an automatic speed detection system which can detect the over- speeding of vehicles and send the license plate of vehicle via email to Toll Plaza for appropriate fine, afterwards. The project comprises of two main modules i.e. Radar Gun, and the license plate recognition system (or, ANPR- the Automatic Number Plate Recognition).Doppler effect phenomenon will be used for the speed measurement. The Radar gun is operated at 12V, generates a frequency of 2.4 GHz and covers a range of 10 m to 15m from the target. If the detected speed is greater than a set speed threshold, a camera will automatically capture a snap of the vehicle and license plate number will be extracted using Digital Image Processing (DIP) techniques. MATLAB tool is used for image processing. Afterwards, the extracted license plate number will be sent via email to Toll Plaza. en_US
