Power Generating Roads

Abstract

Power-Generating Roads is a project related to the conversion of mechanical energy, in the form of vehicular weight on roads, to electrical energy that would be used for powering traffic signals instead of getting dissipated as heat. This electrical energy would be stored in batteries and act as an alternate source of energy. This would be a green and environment friendly source of energy. The project has two obvious parts; the mechanical and the electrical part. The mechanical part would be used to capture the energy from vehicles and the electrical part would store it in batteries so that it can be used to power the traffic signal and the street lights. The conclusion of the project would be a proof of concept, further studies and additions would help in overcoming the energy crisis.
