dc.description.abstract Fixed assets are any permanent object that an organization uses internally like computers, tools, office equipment, software etc. They produce considerable financial value to the organization. The lifecycle of fixed assets include assets acquisition, tagging, tracking and issuance to users, analysis and generating reports for the purpose of financial accounting, preventive maintenance and theft prevention. Organizations are facing many problems in managing their assets which include assets acquisition, issuance, tracking assets moment and generating periodic or spontaneous reports. A lot of paper work is involved which requires Human resource. Many organizations also face the problem of theft regarding fixed assets. A system has been developed using Oracle forms which lacks the features like interactive UI, thin client accessibility and real time availability. XGAM is a comprehensive, generic solution that provides all basic features to manage fixed assets. The aim of the project is to migrate Oracle-form based solution to the best of web 2.0, Java EE and SOA artifacts with focus on reliability, user friendliness, efficiency and security. The entire system is redesigned into web services and integrated into application menu to become an enterprise level application. en_US
