Abstract:
Inventory control systems are very useful in any organization to manage and control their inventories. Inventory can be finished goods that we sell to our customers, services, spare parts, raw material or goods that we buy from our suppliers. An inventory control system can include Units of measure, comprehensive item definition support, ability to track on-hand inventory, receive inventory, issue inventory, forecast demand, and maintain inventory accuracy.
Smart Inventory, a prototype system has been developed for Inventory control using Oracle Forms as a technology. The developed application lacks a number of features like interactive and impressive user interface, real time application availability across the globe, browser based thin client accessibility.
The aim of the project is to migrate oracle-form based application to the bests of Web 2.0, Java EE, and SOA artifacts. The entire application will be re-designed into web services which will further be orchestrated into application menu to become an enterprise application. An important task of this project is to deploy it at SEECS to validate our developed application. Last but not the least, the developed SaaS based inventory control system will be more reliable, efficient, secure, user friendly enterprise application.
