DETERMINISTIC AND PROBABILISTIC SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS WITH ROCKFALL MITIGATION MEASURES FOR SWAT MOTORWAY Swat is an increasingly popular tourist destination but not easily accessible to the general public due to its rugged and mountainous terrain. Swat Motorway Project was launched to mitigate these issues. Current geometrical design of the road exposes the motorway to geotechnical distresses, slope failures and rock falls. On and off landslides and rock falls take place blocking the motorway thus hindering the economic and daily life of the region. This analysis is carried out to characterize the material of different slopes, study the various underlying factors and to evaluate the factor of safety against slope stability. This analysis involves geotechnical investigation encompassing field and laboratory testing. The analysis aims to present a solution basing on the field observation, literature review and analysis carried out using different modules of Roc-Science (PHASE, SLIDE etc.) Moreover, any of the aforementioned failures may create congestion zones due to traffic disruptions and also cause pavement degradation. Therefore, Active Hazard Mapping technique will be used to evaluate the real time hazards of the Motorway. |
