dc.description.abstract Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is a new version of the Internet Protocol that is designed to succeed Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). IPv6 improves on IPv4 in many ways. Some of the advantages gained are larger address space, end to end fragmentation, more efficient mobility, and multi homing support. Switch from IPv4 to IPv6 is not going to be abrupt. The two protocols will coexist for some time. There are a number of transition techniques introduced to make communication between these protocols possible. These include Dual Stack, Manual Tunnelling and NAT-PT. In this project an application based performance analysis on these transition technologies is performed. The applications on which these transition techniques are tested are Online Gaming and Voice application. Experiments are performed on GNS-3 and on actual nodes. Furthermore, mobility scenarios are created to test these techniques. This study will help to choose the most suitable transition technique for specific applications. en_US
