Abstract:
Online social networks have been revolutionary in the way people interact over the Internet today. They have conquered the digital world over the past ten years and literally revolutionized the interactions ,information sharing and multimedia exchange means between people over the Internet. While they have been very successful and hold a place of choice in order to maintain long distance contacts among people, they usually do not leverage the notion of physical proximity for instantaneous temporary network formation that favors new local usage of social networks . In scenarios where internet is not available and data needs to be shared amongst geographically close areas in the reach of local area networks such as art galleries ,concerts and conference rooms , applications based on ad hoc networking principle can play a key role.
The main idea behind this project is to enable devices such as android phone and PC’s present in close proximity to create a spontaneous & scalable network requiring minimum manual configurations , with user’s single click and to allow users to share their experiences, communicate and have access to the comments of others, share files including songs, images, and all other usual files, share contacts, without need to have internet and with minimum required infrastructure. This project also provides an API for all the above mentioned features, so that the user can develop further applications.
