Abstract:
“HelpMate” application is proposed as a platform for linking seekers to volunteers and donors. Pakistan is considered as one of the leading countries to have donations and community services under various heads, including Zakat, charity as well as organizations like Edhi Foundation, Ashiyana, SoS Children Village etc. in addition to vast amount of funds and government resources. Despite the huge scope of the program, it has been observed that seekers remain aloof from the available volunteers and donors and thus remain deprived of the available community services. It results into the miseries and afflictions caused to the needy persons, whereas the donors remain ignorant of the same. It has also been observed that people in the hospitals lose their life due to unavailability of resources for getting blood, medicines or the doctor’s fees. Similarly, there may exist blood donors that can extend their help but may remain uninformed. There are often the situations when the children are deprived of quality education due to inability of the parents to afford school fees. Meanwhile, there may exist certain institutions that offer free of cost education to the students on compassionate grounds, but the needy people may remain unaware of the facility. It necessitates building of a common platform to enable the seekers to approach the volunteers and donors, to get the desired help and vice-versa. The objective of proposed project is to create an android based application for providing community – based help service. It will facilitate location aware mapping, communication and track record among seekers and donors especially in domains of food, blood, medicines, educational funding, medical help etc. It requires front end design and implementation for smart phones, tablets and synchronizing data collected (during offline hours) with cloud servers at the back end.
