Abstract:
Smart Pedometer is intelligent, supportive systems that provide assistance for preventive
healthcare, diagnosis and care. It is very inconvenient for the patient to get observed 24/7
in a hospital compromising all his work and even more difficult for the people who need
to take care of their health related stuff regularly. Smart Pedometer is an android
application with electronic sensors that can monitor body functions and respond to
environmental changes such as detecting and notifying pacemaker patients of potentially
damaging electronic interference or warning athletes of rising body temperature, strain on
muscles and pulse. Smart Pedometer combines everyday products with cost-efficient
electronics and demonstrates the possibilities for the smart materials in an innovative
biometric system making it extremely convenient for the patients/users for diagnosing,
analyzing, keeping the record of their pulse, temperature and strain/stress on their
muscles as well as sharing their data with their trainers or doctors through social media or
web.
This android application is the replacement of manual checkups and maintaining person's
medical history. It integrates different features and certain new modules to provide an
effective and better way of viewing, recording, analyzing and sharing a person's various
health parameters. This project aims in developing a framework by integrating all the
sensors mounted at a person's body and using the android application for display and
sending all the information obtained from sensors through Bluetooth of android phone to
the server. The concept is to display all the information with help of graphs, charts and
tables etc not only in an android application but also on a dashboard which can be
accessed by the person himself and other authorized people. This concept could be
extended to send an SMS alert to any relative or hospital in case of any emergency.
