Agriculture constitutes the largest sector of our economy. It contributes about 24 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and accounts for half of employed labor force and is the largest source of foreign exchange earnings. According to National Agriculture and Research Centre, Wheat is largest contributory crop of Pakistan in country’s economy. But its production has been constrained due to yellow rust, which like other pathogens evolves over time into more damaging form. One mart solution to this problem could be early detection and timely response. AGROBOT (a prototype) is a ground based agricultural vehicle that overcomes challenges existing in large and complex satellite based solutions and helpdesk form of solutions available as m-Services. It provides a small, portable and reliable platform to automatically survey farmland and detect diseases. This system facilitates farmers to easily survey their farmland reducing human workforce. AGROBOT will make video and process it in real-time to check if yellow rust is present is field or not and if detected then it will send farmer a notification on android app and web app along with the image of diseased plant and important readings like temperature, humidity and location. Farmers will be able to see the readings and image siting in his home. Integration with Firebase provides reliability of data stored in the database and delivery of notifications. System is efficient enough to be supported by the minimum hardware technology available. |
