dc.description.abstract This undergraduate dissertation describes the implementation of a basic constituent of Voice-over-IP (VoIP) system, the Call Agent, using the PacketCable “Networkbased Call Signaling” (NCS) protocol. It discusses NCS as a call signaling protocol for use in centralized call control architecture. The capability of the NCS Call Agent of call control, connection control, auditing, and management of resources of its media gateways and its implementation is also discussed. All the basic features of the protocol except for the security and Quality of Service (QoS) have been described and implemented. en_US
