Resource Scheduler

Abstract

Resource Scheduler is automatic time schedule generation software, which helps the management of NIIT to prepare the time schedule within few minutes. User of this system has to enter only new event information e.g. New Batch, Sections, Faculty and then associate Faculty and courses to Batches. The software package mainly focuses on eliminating the clashes occurred with manual time generation and generate a schedule with minimum time gaps between the classes for a batch and faculty as well. The reports greatly helps to administrative and management activities of the NIIT university. The user can print the generated schedule. i.e. Schedule for Faculty , Schedule for Batch, Day Wise Schedule etc. Other reports (faculty profiles, list of batches, courses etc) will also be beneficial for the departments as well as all stack holders. The Schedule Master will allow the users to create makeup classes, update existing schedule and enhance new events into existing schedule. This all is to decrease human dependency from generating complex schedules. The faculty is assigned consecutive classes so that they don’t have to wait for long time. At the same time classes for students are also scheduled consecutively. The object oriented approach will allow this and other systems to be integrated as one system. Although all objectives of this system have been achieved but there is a lot more to be done i.e. GUI can be improved with the passage of time. The resource scheduler’s reporting functionality can be extended by enhancing reports to view workload of a Faculty, Batches, and Rooms. Workflow may be introduced so that sub-level officers can get permissions from the super-level officers. There are a number of enhancements like Notification of Class through SMS to the faculty as well as students. Email that includes relevant schedule timing sent to all students, faculty, and concerned users of this system. WAP site which allow students to check the schedule through their Mobiles using GPRS.
