dc.description.abstract Although Building Information Modeling (BIM) is incipient in the construction industry in Pakistan, yet it is regarded as the new emerging technology in the world of construction in most developed countries. BIM maybe yet inexistent in most underdeveloped countries but such countries are mending their ways to become more suited to adopt this appealing technology. BIM offers a better ability to plan, simulate, manage and execute the complete project life cycle using powerful BIM tools. The main objective of this project is to obtain knowledge about BIM to develop BIM model of NESPAK House Islamabad and to run analysis such as QTO, clash detection, scheduling, energy analysis and structural analysis using appropriate BIM tools for each task. A 3D BIM model of the building was made first, comprising of an architecture model, a structural model and a MEP model. This all was accomplished using Autodesk Revit 2013 software. QTO of the model for cost estimation purposes was generated using Revit and Navisworks. Clash detection and Scheduling of the BIM model were done using Autodesk Navisworks. A preliminary energy analysis of the building was done using the online Autodesk 360 service Green Building Studio to understand the energy requirements and environmental impact of the building. For structural analysis, Robot Structural Analysis 2013 was used. The results strengthened the belief that BIM tools provide better capability for planning and management of a building project. en_US
