dc.description.abstract Several studies have shown that both children and adults benefit substantially from access to a means of independent mobility. A segment of the disabled community finds it difficult or impossible to use wheelchairs independently. Mobility limitations are the leading cause of functional limitations. Running a wheelchair requires a great human’s effort so we should minimize the efforts of those people who are suffering from the diseases in which the bones become very week and likely to break. Engineers have tried to automate the manually driven wheelchairs by giving the functionality of a joystick but still the problem persist as it requires a great movement and the motion of whole arm. So we are developing a system with high user acceptability and lower cost which is based on a smart phone. We have chosen mobile technology as the name implies technology that is portable. Four aspects of life and society that have been greatly affected are communications, business, school and the automotive industry. So In our system we will be automating wheelchair with mobile phone. Considering the need of disabled person our Goal is to automate the wheelchair with the mobile phone. This will remotely send the signals to wheelchair to operate it. Our System includes a wheelchair with pitman motors and a micro-controller attached with motors through h-bridges. The developed system will use smart phone to drive the automated wheelchair that provides enhanced mobility for the elderly and disabled people who have very restricted limb movements or severe handicaps. en_US
