Project costs plays a huge role in determining the future of an idea. If a project is not approved, the idea cannot be made into a reality. For that, the quantity takeoffs play a major role here. With BIM slowly starting to be a center construction industry, many software platforms exist on the market with each software having its own set of functionalities and drawbacks. Having a software that provides with quantity takeoffs closest to the industry norm can prove as a game-changer.
The study undertakes a comparison between three different BIM software, namely Revit 2019, Tekla Structures 2020, and ArchiCAD 22. The research undertakes the modeling of a G+3 RCC frame structure followed by its quantity takeoffs. Manual calculations which have set themselves as an industry-standard are also done to visually compare the differences. The study is different in a way because it undertakes both the modeling and takeoffs using BIM software and not the takeoffs using plans and takeoff software. |
