Intra Organizational Network Assistant

Abstract

The objective of this project was “To Design And Develop A Software That Assists Users In Communicating With Each Other On An Intra Organizational Network From A Single Platform”. All the facilities that are provided in this software are available in different softwares but the aim was to provide them from a single platform with a user friendly GUI. All the front end activities including GUI design, implementation and integration of third party components along with data storage in XML format and Text To Speech conversion were done in this project. To do this the design was carried out in Adobe Photoshop. The implementation and integration of the design was done with the help of Microsoft Visual Studio, in Visual C environment, and the programming language was chosen to be C++. The development of the software started from research work and the different existing softwares were studied in detail. These softwares were “Out Look Express” a Microsoft product and “Lotus Notes” an IBM product. The strengths and weaknesses of these softwares were evaluated. From this evaluation a philosophy was made for the design of this software. The philosophy was this that the software should surface to the user in a cohesive manner in all aspects of the design principles. Based on this philosophy the design of the software took a start in Adobe Photoshop. Once the design was finalized it formed the bases of actual implementation and integration. The implementation part was again a very tedious job which took over 15000 lines of code. It has facilities for chatting, voice chat, file transfer, text to speech conversion, Discussion platform, automatic e-mail downloads, sending e-mails and archiving of data in XML format,
