NIIT Intranet Library Information System

Abstract

A part of NIIT Intranet, Library Information System has been designed & developed under this project. Complete study and analysis of major libraries and their library information system like American Center, Hamdard University Library, Municipal Library, etc has been carried out in arriving at model of library information system for NIIT Intranet. Every effort has been made to keep the library system user friendly. So that users (mostly students) feels free to access any relevant material to seek knowledge. SQL Server 7.0 was chosen to be the backhand database because this is the most widely used RDBMS. Initially, this project was developed and demonstrated in MS Access. MS FrontPage, and HTML, are used as a front-end in this project. Active Server Pages 3.0 is used as a server side scripting. JAVA Scripts are used for the client side scripting. And Internet Information Server is used to support this Intranet based library information system. In order to demonstrate fully the benefits that will accrue to the librarian (database administrator) and users (student, faculty), all the fundamental subsystems have been fully implemented.
