Abstract:
Accuracy, in the estimation of physical location or tracking of a moving target is of utmost importance. The overwhelming reason is that an accurate target’s location must be known for its data to be meaningful. If a system is set up to track the target and it doesn’t give the exact positions, then it would be useless. Thus in Location Tracking, accuracy is the major factor, for its being the driving need in applications of wireless sensor networks (WSN) such as car tracking systems. The problem of implementing an effective algorithm for location tracking by removing the errors introduced in the target’s position is to be sought in this project.
Wireless Sensor networks have been proposed for various applications. There are many applications, in which there is a need to locate the target and track its position. For example, in car tracking systems, the car can be tracked through the sensors which are deployed around it. These sensors sense the target and track its position. Because of the constraints on sensors, finding accurate positions of target is a challenging problem.
I have developed a simulator for tracking the target, considering the cases of inaccurate positioning due to errors, caused by obstacles, such as noise and radio interference. This simulator will benefit the user in tracking a target and determining its position at every instant of time based on a random path. Also the user would be able to introduce different errors and then remove these errors by the error removal technique used in my project. The user will also be able to study the cause of occurrence of errors in the location tracking, and under what conditions, we can get more accurate results.
