dc.description.abstract Retrofitting of structures has been able to be a significant issue in the world over due to increase in loads, human error in beginning of construction, genuine need to consent to redesigned types of existing codes, or the incident of value because of crumbling after some time. As the failure of the joint section prompts the failure of the structure, an explanatory consider has been done to investigate the conduct of beam column joint with various retrofitting techniques. Brief studied had been carried on different conventional and modern retrofitting techniques including steel jacketing, concrete jacketing,reinforced polymer, grout and epoxy injection,glass fiber reinforced polymer and carbon fiber reinforced polymer.A deliberate and comprehensive analysis has been conducted on the retrofitting techniques to highlight the advantages and disadvantages. It also proposes a methodology for performance of beam-column joint to be retrofitted using CFRP. The considered defects include the absence of the transverse reinforcement within the joint core, insufficient bond length for the beam main reinforcement. Different strengthening schemes have been proposed for the retrofitting of beam-column joint as testing could not be conducted due to limited resources available at the hand. en_US
