Abstract:
Mobile telecom industry is rapidly growing at a quicker and speedier pace. Mobile companies are bringing in a constant stream of new and innovative services for their customers. They are now offering much more than simple voice services. The spectrum of services has increased to data, mobile internet, mobile banking, and value added services for the subscribers. However, the operating environment for a mobile operator is quite challenging in terms of competitiveness, market dynamics and socio-economic conditions depending upon the region. In order to sustain the business, it is required that every element of a mobile operator thinks and acts quickly to adapt to changing circumstances and demand. Therefore mobile operators have to be “agile” to sustain their business. Agility is defined as the competence of a company to deal with astounding changes in the market, fight back against exceptional threats and exploit the market changes as opportunities for the betterment of the mobile operator. Agility enables a mobile operator to become cost-efficient, more robust and resilient. The environment of the current century is fast paced for business, the mobile operators which have gained agility offer new services for their customers quickly at the same time monetizing revenue of these services through such a system which is cost-efficient. Considering the mobile operators of Pakistan, they operate in an environment which is very unstable and there are frequent changes in policies of the regular, demands of the customer and operating environment. The operating environment is quite perplexing. Due to these conditions, the mobile operators of Pakistan need to become agile in order to improve their productivity retain the customer and offer best products and services in the least amount of resources. In this research, the researcher performs an analysis of the current challenges that are being faced by the mobile operators of Pakistan. The researcher evaluates the existing level of understanding regarding agility in the mobile operators of Pakistan. The researcher presents the aspects of agility and parameters of agility. In order to improve and gain agility the researcher proposes a model for becoming agile which covers all aspects including customer agility, network agility and service agility for a mobile company.
