dc.description.abstract The recent sharp increase in the number of smartphones in the market and since Android is becoming a major stake holder in smartphone market and is also currently most used operating system among all the operating systems in mobile computing. The security issues of Android malwares and spywares are spreading day by day and there is a need to protect the android users over the ever increasing wireless networks which malicious users can use to access the confidential information stored on the phone and most importantly the access to critical resources along with the network based malwares in Wireless networks are a major area of concern for android users. The recent increase in the wireless internet speeds and the use of applications on smartphone, a lot of users have shifted to the android applications instead of the desktop versions and this has instilled a need to protect the user's privacy over the untrusted and unprotected wireless networks and allow the user to roam freely over any wireless network. The increase in the android smartphone usage and its market share has caused a need for the security of wireless networks on android smartphones. We propose a solution that is based on the adaptive security and protecting critical resources by using permissions for resources of an Android smartphone. It gathers the permission details of the application and then separates the dangerous permissions from the normal one so that we can list the applications with access to critical resources; The name of this application is WiSecure which provides the adaptive security over the wireless networks using the permissions of resources. Furthermore we are providing adaptive security based on network change which protects users in real time. We are solving the problem of malwares in android phones by using adaptive security and permissions of critical resources. Our solution is based on a user centric approach where user has the option to either allow/revoke the permission access and also adaptive security recommends the user settings or the user can go with their customized network settings. en_US
