Abstract:
A drift towards automation and IoT has been observed in international community. However, in Pakistan the advancement through automation has still remained un-realized. Automation in each sector of the economy is essential metric to determine the advancement of an economy. Pakistan’s Agricultural sector, although a largest contributor the GDP has remained the most neglected one. This is due to lack of awareness and a lack of motivation to move towards automation which may lead to higher revenue generation in the long term. Pakistan is one of the largest exporters of Agricultural produce. But, surprisingly enough one-fourth of Pakistan’s population remains malnourished as quoted by Express tribune in Oct 2017. In the short term, agricultural produce cannot rise. However, methods could be devised to prevent crop wastage that forms 35 % of grain production. We are thus heading towards a solution that could cost effectively and efficiently provide the data related to key quality indicators of grain. Through this data, appropriate strategies could be devised to keep the grain at optimal temperature and humidity conditions and thus coming close to preventing the grain wastage altogether.
