dc.description.abstract |
Providing non-contaminated water to the masses is one of the greatest challenges faced by third world countries. One of the major problems faced in water distribution is the defective supply lines. Our aim was to develop such a system that monitors the water supply network and keeps sending information about the quality of water at particular points so that point of defectiveness of supply line can be found out quickly.
We developed a system of devices in which each device measures basic water quality parameters pH, TDS and temperature and Ions. Each device has been linked with each other through a microcontroller. Data from sensors is sent to microcontroller for computations and then sent to the computer for analysis and implementation of machine learning algorithms through a serial communication module. The data is then organized and represented in a graphical form on the computer and unknown parameters are determined from this data by the application of Machine Learning. These parameter values are then compared to the safe water drinking standards and information about contamination can be found.
Employing this system can avoid the need of manual testing of water. It provides quick and effective information about quality of water which can be of great use for the person who is in charge of water quality and can take immediate action on the basis of the data provided by this system which can prevent the spread of diseases and save lives of the people. |
