dc.description.abstract Substantial portion of present structures globally are made of brick masonry. EQs have shown frequently the seismic susceptibility of brick masonry units. Diverse methodologies have previously been examined for reinforcing brick structures using FRP and steel but all these methods are either costly, not easy to apply, labour extensive or need extraordinary talents. To counter these issues of un-reinforced masonry structures, different strengthening method including external uses of galvanized steel strips had already been tested. A new technique which involves application of SBR X4 (paint) on double-face of masonry were experimentally investigated in this project. Effects of the proposed techniques on prism’s compressive strength under cyclic compressive loading are compared and presented in this project. The comparison of the suggested method include: reduced architecture impact, simplicity and price efficiency. The energy absorption, ductility and stiffness degradation of strengthened prisms was found quite better as compared to un-reinforced masonry (URM) prisms. The cyclic compressive loading test had shown substantial rise in compressive strength of masonry. The study is found suitable for strengthening of existing buildings, brickw en_US
