dc.description.abstract Water is a good friend as well as the worst enemy of a structure. In pre-construction phase water is used for curing to maximize the strength of the plaster and concrete but if the same structure is exposed to water for too long after construction, then its strength is compromised. Seepage in walls is a very common phenomenon and has a deadly effect on the structure. It causes damages like water marks, blisters and bubbled paint work on the walls and ceiling of the room due to which it can cause structural damages as well as ruins the aesthetics of the structure. Sialkot region has a very shallow water table. This shallow water table causes seepage in the structures due to which the structure becomes weak in due course of time. Most of the old constructed buildings DPC’s have been failed to stop the ground water seepage. This seepage ruins the structures aesthetically due to which great amount of money is spent for the maintenance of these structures. To reduce the seepage in the building the retrofitting of the DPC was recommended. To lower the Shallow water table recommendations have been provided which will be helpful in the long term solution to the en_US
