dc.description.abstract This study investigates deep excavation in an urban environment, its effects on the neighboringstructures and excavation support systems that are utilized to cater for the effects of deep excavation on the neighboringstructures and their foundations. When the excavation is taking place in an urban environment this becomes very critical for the integrity of nearby structures. Due to the depth of the excavation and the proximity of other structures, the selection of a support system becomes very critical. This study investigates the challenges encountered by deep excavation, and proposes a suitable support system to encounter these challenges. A deep excavation that is to be conducted for a Commercial Mall on Plot 96-D, Rehmanabad, Murree Road, Rawalpindi isstudied and a suitable support system is designed in order to counter for the effects of excavation on the nearby structures and to prevent the earth wall surrounding the excavation from collapsing. en_US
