dc.description.abstract The infrastructures like dams, powerhouses, schools, transportation / communication systems, etc., are essential for today’s daily life. In past two decades, sophisticated terrorists’ attacks on such infrastructures have not only caused huge losses to the nations, but contributed towards destabilizing various countries. Consequently, providing security solutions for such infrastructure has emerged as a multi-billion-dollar industry. Hence, the focus of this thesis is Physical security of infrastructures. Physical security involves the use of multiple layers of interdependent protection systems that include CCTV surveillance, security guards, protective barriers, locks, access control protocols, and many other techniques. Optimum and simultaneous use of all such protection resources in any organization is a challenging task that requires scientific techniques for utilizing resources to identify, preempt and repulse the attack in best possible way. However, despite development of various decision-making systems through published research, there is significant shortfall of desired level of sophistication to model, enhance and analyze such resources. en_US
