dc.description.abstract Administration issues are extremely widespread in public hospitals. There is no proper automated system to cater to an already large yet ever increasing number of patients. One of the major concerns of patients is that doctors and paramedical staff are unable to give them sufficient time for examination and treatment. This is usually because doctors and paramedical staff waste a significant amount of time in record management and are unable to pay undivided attention to patients. This results in the quality of health services being severely compromised. Currently, a patient’s registration, profiling and maintenance of history is done on paper, which proves to be a time consuming task and it is considerably difficult for the doctors and hospital administration to maintain the paper-based records. Even though patient record files from the past are available, they cannot be used efficiently to extract any useful information for use in medical research. Se-HIMAS has been developed to provide a solution to these problems. Se-HIMAS provides an easy to use HIMS (Health Information Management System) which allows medical practitioners to quickly record a patient’s history and then be able to use the same data to extract critical information, thereby supporting medical research. Se-HIMAS follows HL-7 and ICD-10 standards which makes it inter-operable with any other HIMS and provides a platform to handle every phase of Pediatric Oncology (Cancers) at The Children Hospital in PIMS. en_US
