dc.description.abstract Eucalyptus (Elastic Utility Computing Architecture for Linking Your Programs to Useful Systems) is an open source package for building cloud computing infrastructures. It supports KVM/Linux and Xen for hypervisors. It also includes the Rocks cluster distribution for cluster management and is API compatible with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2 — Amazon's cloud computing interface). All this added with a huge support community makes it an apt choice for setting up and building cloud computing infrastructures. The project’s objective is to setup and build a private cloud using Eucalyptus. The private cloud will be capable of allocating and releasing resources on-demand, thereby utilizing the idle resources in an organization. Managing resources with Eucalyptus will eliminate the need to setup separate computer clusters. The resulting setup will be a complete Virtual Computing Environment (VCE –as defined by VMware) with a capability of scaling-up and down. Also a User Friendly Web Interface would be developed which would enable users to use the software without any difficultly and problems. en_US
