dc.description.abstract Braille is a tactile writing system used by people who are visually impaired. It is traditionally written with embossed paper. Braille is the language of blind people where every alphabet is denoted by a sequence of dots. Blind people fall back in literacy rates as most of them are not able to read and more often, cannot afford to buy books written in Braille because of their prices and lack of availability. This report describes the design of a controller for refreshable display. The controller uses ASCII’s printable characters to simulate the combinations of the six dot display of the tablet. It transliterates text written in English into Braille script. It is then rendered to the display of the tablet. It has Arduino pre-programmed transliterating capabilities and can be used easily by the visually impaired. en_US
