Abstract:
Citizens of Pakistan, being part of a third world country, are faced with a lot of problems; one of which if not being able to converse fluently in international English accent. Due to insufficient resources and lack of education people in Pakistan are faced with embarrassment and confusion while trying to speak in proper English accents fluently. In order to deal with this issue, we have come up with a solution which would not only help common people speak fluent English, but also speak with an added American accent. We have chosen American accent as our favored accent because it is the easier one to learn and imitate. British and other accents have really strong pronunciations which are harder to copy and take longer time to perfect.
The solution comprises of an android application, which would allow the user to speak to the application and check whether their accent is good enough or close to being perfectly similar to American accent. The application also consists of different levels which the users can select and choose to learn at their own pace and go to advanced levels as they go. They can learn to perfect their accents with the Android application pointing out exactly where their flaws in their accent are. The application will compare the users’ pronunciation with the accent it has already been trained on (American accent). At the moment, there is no such application available that provides all these facilities in a compact app so EAT app is expected to be really helpful in this regard.
If adopted at large, this application can be used by professionals and students in their professional life for perfecting their accents. Not only professionals, common people with accent problems or with problems speaking fluently and with a perfect accent who have to communicate with people outside Pakistan with ease. People who have a passion for perfecting themselves in different languages can also make great use of this application.
