Abstract:
In an ever increasing world of digitalization, a lot of processes tend to be simulated and tested on computers prior their application to the real world, as testing out how something will act in a real environment by actually building physical prototypes is expensive and very risky. As 3D is gaining momentum in all fields, simulation systems and 3D representations of real-life objects have become commonplace. Our “Automatic 3D Mapper” aims to provide a quick and economic solution to drawing a baseline 3D model for building interiors via either the specialized hardware mounted on a small car, or by attaching it to an arm.
“Automatic 3D Mapper” aims to facilitate businesses like hotels in giving virtual tours, video game developers in modelling real-areas, architectural students in site studies and developing services similar to Google Maps for building interiors.
To achieve this, we’re using special hardware from NVIDIA, ZED and Arduino coupled with Artificial Intelligence algorithms, along with a web application and third party tools to display a 3D representation of a building interior in popular 3D formats which can then be imported and polished to their final form in all standard 3D design software such as Autodesk 3DS MAX, Maya, Blender and even Unity 3D.
