Abstract:
In industrial fabric productions, automated real time systems are needed to find out the minor defects. It will save the cost by not transporting defected products and also would help in making company image of quality fabrics by sending out only undefected products.
Real Time Defect Detection In Fabrics is a different way to tackle the problem of detection of various kinds of defects in fabrics. It is an efficient technique that aim’s at replacing the most commonly used defect detection technique used in industry i.e digital image processing technique. This technique employs sensor’s instead of digital signal processing.
This project consisted of two portions’, the first one being mechanical assembly resembling to the frontal portion of fabric making machine (Loom) and the second being the electrical assembly consisting of different electrical parts e.g. Sensors.
The complete fabric sheet with the help of mechanical assembly was traversed from one rod on the mechanical assembly to the other, while sensor keeping an eye on the sheet looking for defects in the sheet.
The simulations for detecting some of most common fabric defects were run using the proposed solution. The results showed that this technique is cheaper than the digital image processing technique and results were as good as the other technique.
