gMOOC (An online education platform)

Abstract

In the modern world, technology can be seen almost everywhere around us. Looking at hospitals, entertainment and even our homes, technology has certainly changed the way we do certain things. The same can be said for education; technology has started to change the field of education internationally. Online education portals such as Coursera and Khan Academy have revolutionized modern education, and will continue to do so. However, there is currently no such system for the students of Pakistan. Looking solely at Pakistan’s educational system, it is no secret that there is much room for improvement. In fact, in 2017 there was a 2% decrease in the country’s literacy rate, which was already low. There are several reasons for this; lack of resources and a lack of desire being some major ones. Pakistani students often face difficulties in their studies, they are usually forced to memorize facts rather than taught different theories and problem solving methods. Not only that, but some students from poorer families are removed from school by their parents, who see it as a waste of time. These students need a system dedicated to them that will fit their needs and requirements. Our proposed solution is to make a fully functional Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) system, designed specifically for Pakistani students. The system would help students to learn anywhere and at any time, as long as they have access to the Internet. With this system, we hope to bring a positive change to the education system of Pakistan.
