Abstract:
The World Health Organization estimates that counterfeit drug revenue is currently at around $200 billion and approximately 10%-15% of global pharmaceutical trading involves counterfeit drugs sold on the black market, the internet or directly to patients via prescription. In Pakistan nearly 40% of the drugs sold are fake or of substandard quality. In 2012, in one incident alone, 120 Pakistani heart patients died after ingesting counterfeit heart medicine. The aim of our project is to encounter this counterfeit medicine industry through technology using blockchain. Using the Blockchain Technology, the pharmaceutical supply chain is made secure, transparent, trusted and immutable.
TrackMed is a platform for the supply chain of medicine which is built on blockchain technology using Hyperledger. TrackMed gives you the power to keep an immutable record of transactions and data to demonstrate regulatory adherence and improved security. TrackMed provides us with the power to connect the silos in supply chain of drugs. This can efficiently tackle and reduce the ever-increasing counterfeit drug industry.
