dc.description.abstract In past, structural stability remained a crucial topic, many stability problems and areas have been investigated in recent years, yet there exist several important stability problems that need extra consideration. The objective of the study discussed in this paper is to perform a comparative study for different linear and non-linear analysis techniques on free-fixed columns and planar sway frames and load-displacement responses are investigated. All these investigations are made in a virtual laboratory i.e. computational software such as MASTAN2 and ABAQUS. The effect of changing L/r, different element types in software, and mesh size on column behavior is also investigated. In addition to these, this paper also discusses, investigates, provides knowledge, and reviews already present solutions for these specific structural stability areas: (1) Column Flexural Buckling and Factors Influencing it; (2) Effective Length K-factors for simple Columns and Columns in Frames. en_US
