dc.description.abstract CES-NUST has installed _rst GTL (Gas to Liquid) pilot plant in Pakistan, based on Fischer Tropsch synthesis. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for Fischer Tropsch Synthesis has been developed for monitoring of the vital parameters of bench scale plant and providing them to the plant operator. To monitor and control of long industrial processes, some automatic system is required rather than the manual operations. Research represented in thesis provides the flexible and remote solution for the problem of automatic control and monitoring including data logging by developing the proposed SCADA system for the plant. Usually in bench scale FT synthesis plants the built-in system is the manual control and monitoring of certain parameters of pro-cess. The work presented in thesis upgrades the system by extending the work into providing data logging facility, remote access, GUI and feedback control system. The system is developed for the specific FT synthesis plant by integrating different available parts and combining them together to get desired results. Proposed SCADA system has been successfully developed and implemented on FTS plant. All parameters in real time are recorded and plotted to check the validity of system. LABVIEW based GUI has been developed to monitor and control of overall process. Data log in form of .xlxs sheet is taken as output to plot and analyze the behavior of different parameters like reactor temperature, separator temperature, pressure, mass flows and etc in real time. The sys-tem is successfully controlling and monitoring the FT process by set-point based control technique. The research high lights the development and architecture of the SCADA system applied to the FT synthesis process. en_US
