Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate performance of novel ureolytic bacterial
species, that can self-heal cracks by calcium carbonate precipitation. Jute fiber is
used as a potential immobilizer for bacteria in self-healing. Six different
formulations are formed, and mechanical strength tests are carried out. Visual
observations of self-healing indicate the surface sealing of cracks. MATLAB image
processing indicates the average percentage of CaCO3 precipitation in the concrete
samples.
