Abstract:
Government schools are producing enormous amount of data on daily basis which is being managed and monitored in paper-driven setup. However, this paper driven setup is prone to inaccuracy and inconsistency in records. Hence automated system for managing administrative activities of school is required which can bring accuracy and consistency in records by providing digital access to users. This study analysed existing frameworks for automation of school system. Gaps are identified in existing frameworks and survey is conducted from different target groups of Government School Education Department to address these gaps. Results showed some of modules in government schools are already automated while others are yet to be automated. Major tendency of teachers towards using automated modules for complete school management system is evident from results of survey. Working of existing modules is also evaluated with respect to usability and availability. Based on requirements of government school employees and challenges faced by them in existing system, this study proposes a framework for automation of school management system. This framework introduces smart data monitoring setup by splitting record management and activity management modules and assigning different control privileges. Proposed framework facilitates whole organizational hierarchy instead of just one school management. So access of records spans over district as well as provincial and country level creating central data management for government schools. Further, proposed framework is validated from government school employees by providing them prototype of proposed framework. Remarkable satisfaction of users is achieved from users in framework validation survey.
