dc.description.abstract This study explores the green hydrogen production potential from offshore wind power generation in the Exclusive Economic Zone and the extended continental shelf of Pakistan along with some parts of the nearby Arabian Sea using mesoscale simulations. Seasonal wind data is presented for the coastal regions of Pakistan by deploying the Weather Research and Forecasting model. Three different wind turbine generator types of varying generation capacities are used to estimate the amount of energy that can be generated in different seasons. The results show that the summer and winter seasons are the most productive with class 3 and class 4 type wind potential in different the regions along the coastline. Moreover, spring and fall seasons are most productive in the Balochistan region while minimum wind potential is observed in Sindh and the open sea region. Results indicate that by employing the proton exchange membrane electrolysis technique with up to 55 % of efficiency, 70 to 100 tonnes of green Hydrogen could be produced in the region during spring and summer while using the most powerful wind turbine generator HaliadeX. This thesis hence presents an applied insight for offshore green hydrogen production to support the formation of hydrogen economies of the future especially from the perspective of developing countries that are severely threatened by climate change such as Pakistan. en_US
