Abstract:
Design and fabrication of this particular active, bifunctional and also the robust catalyst
represents the most difficult challenge in the water splitting. In this particular study, we
developed a bifunctional heterogenous catalyst MoS2/rGO with an optimal weight % of 5
wt % using a hydrothermal method. The optimized sample demonstrated extremely strong
activity of the hydrogen evolution reaction having a very low overpotential of 242 mV with
the current density of almost 10 mA/cm2
. For OER, the hybrid showed an overpotential of
about 120 mV for 10 mA/cm2
. Furthermore the 5 wt % MoS2/rGO hybrid was shown to be
stable to almost 2 hours having the current density of 100 μA/cm2
. Remarkable OER and
also HER activity of 5 wt % MoS2/rGO among other hybrids is attributable to an immense
amount of the suitable catalyst active sites that facilitate charge and electron transport as
well as the synergistic effect between MoS2 and rGO.
