dc.description.abstract This study’s areas of interest are the respondents that are admitted in the Old Age Homes of Islamabad and the socio-economic reasons their admissions. Special emphasis has been placed on variables such as Income, savings, ownership of house, education level. As such a study has not been previously undertaken in the area of Pakistan, so this study solely relies on primary research in which the tool used to gather the data is a questionnaire. Old age people are a source of wisdom and learning’s in our society, families tend to care for their elders and live with them. Although some old age people live in Old age homes away from families so this study investigates what are the reason for such living conditions for some old age people. The results ultimately show that in Pakistan those living in old age homes are majorly there due to Economic reasons ( with no savings at all) and other contributing factor are social problems (divorce, separation etc.). Some respondents were also admitted due to major medical conditions whose treatment they could not afford. Study gives great insight of situation of old age population and what sort of family structure prevails in Pakistan and do economic factors contribute in changing the family structure of Pakistan? en_US
