Abstract:
The main objective of the current study was the translation and adaptation of webbased Clinician-administered Youth version of the Kiddie Schedule for Affective
Disorders and Schizophrenia (KSADS-COMP) for the children of 6 to 18 years. World
Health Organization guidelines for translation and adaptation were followed throughout
the study. The study was divided into two phases; in phase I, the steps followed were the
forward translation, committee approach/expert panel and back translation. The expert
panel consisted a group of experts who were bilinguals and had experience of working
with children. Phase II of the study involved pretesting, cognitive interviewing and
systematic debriefing. The study was carried out in Rawalpindi/Islamabad and data was
collected from both children and clinicians in pretesting. Later on, the participants were
debriefed and cognitive interviewing was carried out. Suggestions from the respondents
were reviewed and incorporated, where necessary, in the document that resulted in final
Urdu version of KSADS COMP. Since this study was the initial work, further studies are
required for development of the website and to established the psychometric properties of
KSADS COMP in Pakistan.
